Days before the Christmas and New Year Holidays, one of the ambitious capital clubs organized its traditional Christmas swimming tournament. It aimed to promote the sport of swimming among children, contribute to its development and give participants the opportunity to demonstrate their skills gained in the aquatic environment during the past year! 134 children between the ages of 5 and 12 took part in the tournament, and the Chairman of "NSК Olimp" Emil Milkov welcomed the guests with a solemn speech, in which he noted that in 2021 Olimp has won a record number of medals from competitions in the BFPS calendar and state championships - a total of 335, of which 146 are gold. Here's what else he shared:
"The biggest success for me is that we showed the children how to overcome obstacles and difficulties, that we taught them that with hard work, perseverance and discipline they can achieve their biggest dreams! That's exactly why I thank our entire team, for the fact that with joint efforts we have become an organization that pursues worthy ideals, an organization that will one day represent our homeland at international competitions, raise the Bulgarian spirit and create reasons for national pride! I thank the children and their parents for their daily efforts, trust and support. Of course, thanks for the hospitality of our kind hosts from COMPLEX VAZRAZHDANE, and last but not least, to our sponsors City Build Studio and the world-famous Speedo brand. We appreciate that social responsibility is an invariable part of the corporate culture of their companies. We are grateful that they support sports because it is the best way for children to grow up.”
In a solemn atmosphere, Petar Ivanov was promoted with the title of Senior Swimming Coach to the field of High Sports Mastery.
Plaque for the best athlete among women with her achievement in 200 meters freestyle, with a time of 2:12:36 hundredths, which brings 580 FINA points, was deservedly awarded to Simona Ivanova.
A plaque for the best athlete in men with his achievement in the 100m crawl, with a time of 51:42 hundredths, which brings 667 FINA points, was deservedly awarded to Alex Stoynov.
Immediately before the start of the tournament, the youngest athletes of Olimp: Karina Mitrova, Viktor Pehlivanyan and Daniel Burdzhiev, who were equipped in the most modern equipment of the world-famous Speedo brand as part of a sponsorship package to the club, did a demonstrative control swim of the 100 meters discipline combined.
The competition was broadcasted live on the club's Facebook and YouTube channels. For the first time in the history of Bulgarian swimming, Olimp made an attempt to broadcast live the start lists and rankings of the children. The organizers commented that the synchronization between video picture, start sheets and classifications was very difficult, but the next competition will give them the opportunity to do it better. Medals were awarded to the children who placed in the top three, and all others received certificates of participation.
