He has purpose, he has potential, he has dreams, and there are centered hopes in him. The 15-years-old NSK Olimp athlete Alex Stoinov is the national record holder in the junior 50m freestyle event, but his ambitions are far reaching and he is ready to do everything in his power to achieve them.
Alex lives in Novi Han, studies "Programming" at the 105th Secondary School "Atanas Dalchev" in the capital, and is a competitive swimmer of NSK Olimp, he briefly introduces himself. He honestly and succinctly tells us about his performance and aspirations in swimming, and between the words, discipline and dedication to his favorite sport can be felt.
The young swimmer trains every day. From September to June he wakes up at 5:50 a.m. because the bus that takes him every morning from Novi Han to Sofia to school leaves half an hour later and there is no other option. After school, he eats a home-cooked meal and goes to practice, then comes home to recover and prepare for the next day.
In terms of nutrition, he has no special regime, he emphasizes on proteins and carbohydrates consumption. On October 17th last year in Burgas, Alex became the fastest swimmer in the 50m freestyle for juniors in Bulgaria. He set a national record in the 25-meter pool with a time of 24.27 seconds. This is the first national record for NSK Olimp and is the result of 8 years of work.
"It's hard to become a record holder," snaps Alex. "My coach Petar Ivanov and I worked a lot for the record, and in the end we just got what we wanted. We managed to achieve it with a lot of effort and persistence," says the swimmer. He admits that he is motivated to get better with each training session and spares no effort. Alex is confident in himself and is ready to boldly swim forward, does not allow himself to make excuses and to complain.
"There are a lot of times when I don't feel like training, but I have goals that I'm following and also have the motivation to go in to swim and perform at my best," he says. He will participate in the Republican Championship in Varna, which will be held from August 6 to 8, and his coach has already developed a special plan. For now, he trains once a day, but soon his regimen will include two workouts a day.
In the long term, Alex's ambition in swimming is aimed at clearly formulated goals - to improve records, to compete at the European Championships and the Olympics.
The young record holder is undoubtedly a source of pride for NSC Olympus, but the coaches and the team can boast with more medalists from national championships and competitions of the Bulgarian Swimming Sports Federation.
NSK Olimp has high goals and the ambition to build world-class swimmers, developing their maximum potential in a long-term perspective according to modern trends and in the necessary conditions. The main goal of the club is not just for children to learn swimming, but through a comprehensive process to build skills, knowledge and habits that help them adapt and progress both in the pool and in any other endeavor.
NSK Olimp and SPORT DEPOT are partnering, as the Bulgarian sports goods chain provides coaches and swimmers with equipment from one of the world's leaders in the sector - Speedo. The young hopefuls of national swimming jump into the pool, dressed and equipped with technological and innovative products from Speedo's Fastskin series.
